Blossom Jeju - 2 Step Petal Masks

11:26 PM

Hi everyone,

I hope you had a good start into 2018 and I wish you all a wonderful 2018 filled with precious moments, love, health, happiness and just all the best!

Today I have a review of 2 sheet masks from the brand Blossom Jeju and one of the main ingredients from these masks is....camellia oil! You know, I love camellia oil and I've recently written an ingredient focus article about it. If you want to know more about camellia oil, you can read all about it HERE.

Brand: Blossom Jeju
Country: South Korea
Step 1:   The first step is 100% camellia oil and there is more than enough for one use. There was actually too much for me and I ended up using some on my nails and hands :DYou have to apply the oil first and then follow with the sheet mask. The camellia seed oil in Step 1 pouch helps to absorb deeply Step 2 pouch’s essence.
Step 2 is a sheet mask
Price: CHF 7.00 (now 5.00) on niasha.ch
Type of material: thin and soaked in essence. According to Blossom Jeju, it's made from cupro, an ultrafine fiber. It's similar to the Missha Oil Soak Masks I reviwed here. It's a type of material with small holes in it, it's able to retain the oil essence in the mask easier than traditional cotton masks.
Type of essence: the essence of the mask is thin and clear, non sticky
Scent: warm scent, maybe camellia scented (I’m not sure, sorry), but whatever it is, it's divine!

2 STEP BRIGHTENING PETAL MASK

INGREDIENTS - POUCH 2
Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Sodium Hyaluronate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Hydroxyacetophenone, Xanthan Gum, Boswellia Serrata Resin Extract, Disodium EDTA, Panthenol, Betaine, Trehalose, Hippophae Rhamnoides Water, Pearl Extract, Paeonia Lactiflora Root Extract, Licorice Root Extract, Polygonum Multiflorum Root Extract, Phellinus Linteus Extract, Morus Alba Bark Extract, Sophora Flavescens Root Extract, Cimicifuga Racemosa Root Extract, Sesame Seed Extract, Angelica Gigas Root Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Opuntia Ficus-Indica Extract, Matricaria Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Beta-Glucan, Malus Domestica Fruit Extract, Rosemary Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Blueberry Fruit Extract, Rose Canina Fruit Extract, Broccoli Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Carbomer, Allantoin, Polysorbate 80, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Triethanolamine, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Fragrance

INGREDIENT ANALYSIS
This mask contains
  • water, humectants (glycerin, butylene glycol, sodium hyaluronate, trehalose) to draw water into the skin (=> bring hydration)
  • niacinamide (brightening, strengthen skin barrier, even skin tone and texture),
  • texture enhancer (xanthan gum),
  • panthenol (soothing), betaine (soothing).
  • Then comes Hydroxyacetophenone, an anti-irritant, antioxidant, emulsion stabilizer and preservative booster.
  • Botanical extracts: Indian frankincense (Boswellia Serrata), sea buckthorn, peony, licorice, Polygonum Multiflorum, Phellinus Linteus mushroom, white mulberry, sophora, Cimicifuga Racemosa, sesame, Korean angelica, Scutellaria Baicalensis, Barbary fig, matricaria, green tea, centella asisatica, apple, rosemary, Houttuynia Cordata, Portulaca Oleracea, aloe vera, blueberry, dog rose, broccoli. There is therefore a good mix of antioxidant and soothing extracts plus a couple of brightening ones.
  • Pearl extract: Pearl extract is believed to be able to reduce skin discoloration and lighten uneven skin tone but there isn't much research about it.
  • Beta-glucan: antioxidant and excellent skin soothing ingredient for improving the look of redness and other signs of sensitive skin.
  • At the end of the list, camellia oil.

What I like: quite a lot of humectants, important to bring hydration and a lot of soothing ingredients (both synthetic and plant-based) plus niaciniamide, a great ingredient to brighten and even the skin tone. Overall, pretty nicely formulated mask, particularly great for people who like products with many botanical extracts and soothing properties.

THOUGHTS
Overall, although the ingredients are not same as in the brightening mask, I think they’re quite similar (the main differences concern the botanical extracts used and the presence of pearl extract in the brightening mask). So again, what I like is the same as for the brightening one: quite a lot of humectants, important to bring hydration and a lot of soothing ingredients (both synthetic and plant-based) plus niacinamide to brighten and even the skin tone.

Both of them left my skin super hydrated (the masks are really soaked in essence) and soft and I must admit that they both left my skin brighter and more glowy. You could really see the difference. The effects didn’t last forever but for a few hours (until the next morning).

I also like the addition of the first pouch containing 100% camellia oil, which is a nourishing oil that doesn’t clog pores. It felt actually lightweight and didn’t prevent the absorption of the mask and I think it helped with the glow that the mask provided. I've noticed that oil soaked sheet masks as the Missha masks I talked about here are great to brighten and make the skin glow and here using first an oil and following with a sheet mask had that same effect.
So overall, pretty impressed with these masks and I must say once again that I love oil masks or the combo oil followed by a mask like here. Moreover, this is a cool way to try the brand, Blossom Jeju, that everyone seems to love!
