A sheet mask review today on Nailderella - because I'm a sheet mask addict. I've posted a few sheet masks review on Instagram but not so much here but in the end, I thought it could be cool to have some sheet masks reviews on the blog, too!

So today I have a review of a sheet mask of the Korean brand "Wish Formula". If you're active on Instagram and like skincare products, you've probably seen their Bubble Peeling Pads. They are pads that start bubbling when you rub the face. I really want to try them! I'll probably pick some next time I order from Jolse.com.







Name: Wish Formula - The Mask With Centella Honey Fermented Serum
Content: each mask contain 26 mL of essence. You can buy them individually or in a pack of 10.
Cost: $4.28 (at the moment $3.85) each or $27.98 (at the moment $25.18) the box of 10 on Jolse.com.

Claims: Contains "Centella Asiatica extract, honey ferment extract, beta-glucan, panthenol, allantoin, hyaluronic acid and more natural ferment extracts to provide intensive moisturizing, nourishing and soothing effect."

Type of material: this is a cotton sheet mask. The material is therefore thick. With this type of material, don't keep the sheet mask on for too long, don't wait until it's completely dry to remove it (otherwise it can make you skin dry). Remove it after 15-20 min when it's still damp. I usually prefer super thin sheet masks, I think they adhere better to the skin.




Fit: the fit was pretty horrible for me. I couldn't fit the edges of the mask to my face and they kept lifting. It was a bit annoying but in the end OK. This is probably due to the thickness of the cotton used here.

Scent: almost scent-less, it has a very faint herbal scent though.



Type of essence: it's a watery essence with a water-like viscosity (i.e., very liquidy and thin). The mask is saturated in essence but is not dripping. There is a lot (!!) of essence left in the packet. I actually had never seen so much essence left in a sheet mask before. Of course, you can use the leftover essence on your arms, legs and neck (they were happy to get a pampering session, too :D ). The essence is non sticky and is absorbed quite easily. Another thing I do when there is enough leftover essence is applying some on top of the sheet mask and lightly massage it in.



Ingredients:
Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Black Strap Powder, Butylglycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Arctium Lappa Root Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Hypericum Perforatum Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Saponaria Officinalis Leaf/Root Extract, Saccharomyces/Honey Ferment Filtrate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Beta-Glucan, Lactobacillus/Olive Leaft Ferment Extract, Saccharomyces/Peppermint Leaf Ferment Filtrate, Lactobcillus/Clover Flower Ferment Filtrate, Panthenol, Allantoin, Hydroxycellulose, Chlorphenesin.



The essence of the mask is made of solvents (Water, Dipropylene Glycol), a bunch of humectants that are able to attract and retain water and are therefore great to bring hydration (Glycerin, Black Strap Powder (powder obtained from sugar cane molasses), Butylglycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate). And that’s it for the first 6 ingredients of the list. So the important ingredients here are: HUMECTANTS!

Then come a lot of botanical extracts including many antioxidant extracts (Hops Extract) plus some plants that in addition to their antioxidant potential are also anti-inflammatory (Arctium Lappa Root Extract, Sage Leaf Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract). Note the presence of Lemon and Hypericum Perforatum Extract which possess antioxidant properties but can also be photosensitizing.

Finally are showing up the advertised ingredients: fermented honey and centella asiatica. Centella asiatica is a fantastic plant to help with wound healing (see my detailed article about it here), it has anti-inflammatory properties and is great to soothe the skin. It's a great plant for acne-prone skin or if your skin is irritated and need a healing boost.
Honey is a great humectant that also possesses antibacterial and antioxidant properties. It has been shown to aid in skin rejuvenation. Here fermented honey is used. It has been shown that the fermentation process can increase the nutrient value of ingredients and therefore increase the benefits to skin. In this article, it has been shown that the fermentation process of honey can yield in honey rich in gluconic acid, a PHA (see my article about PHA here), aka a gentle exfoliant. That's actually the only article about fermented honey and skincare I came across.
