Swanicoco 100% Natural Peeling Herb Pack

Do you remember my last Swanicoco review about their Fermentation Snail Care Emulsion & Toner (here)? I recently received a package from Swanicoco with a few items and today I am reviewing one of them and it's a mask pack! :D

If you don't know the brand, Swanicoco is a Korean niche brand that is getting more and more attention internationally because they chose their ingredients with extreme care, pack their products with natural ingredients, particularly fermented and plant extracts used in Korean traditional medicine.

Name: Swanicoco 100% Natural Peeling Herb Pack
Contain: it's a 25mL jar that contains a powder. The jar is rather small.
Claim: peeling/exfoliating pack to treat old, dead skin and impurities and to make the skin breathe for clearer skin. Fine herb ingredients penetrate deep into pores for clean care.

INGREDIENTS:
Artemisia Princeps Leaf Powder, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Powder, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Powder, Castanea Crenata (Chestnut) Shell Powder, Atractylodes Macrocephala Root Powder, Houttuynia Cordata Powder, Moonstone Powder, Cnidium Officinale Root Powder, Polygonum Multiflorum Root Powder, Pueraria Lobata Root Powder, Poria Cocos Powder, Pinus Densiflora Leaf Powder, Panax Ginseng Root Powder, Chamaecyparis Obtusa Powder.

This powder mix contains 100% natural Korean herb and root powders. It contains mainly Korean mugwort (artemisia princpes) leaf, green tea leaf, licorice root, and chestnut shell powder. Note also that it contains some moonstone powder, poria cocos (mushroom, I mention it because that’s an ingredient I find interesting, I talked about it here) and ginseng root powder in lower amount.

HOW IT WORKS:
The main action of this powder mix is to gently exfoliate the skin. The powder is finely milled so that it’s not too harsh on the skin but it’s still effective at exfoliating it. It has a mild herbal scent and for some reasons the smell reminds me of Swiss Alpine herbs. I love it so much because it brings back good memories :D I'm not 100% sure but the main scent may come from the mugwort/artemisia princpes. Mugwort is a popular Korean plant used in traditional medicine, we have another species of artemisia available in Switzerland and maybe they have the same scent, that's why I have the impression that it has this Swiss herb scent :D

On the pictures below you can see how the powder looks like and how it looks when you add some water. Typically the amount I have here is too small for my face and I had to add about the same amount again. To find the adequate ratio of powder/water, just put some powder in the palm of your hands and add some water little by little until you get the consistency you feel comfortable using. The more water you use, the less exfoliating it will be. Here on the picture I used too much water in my opinion, when I used it the other times I used less water (recommended ration is powder:water 2:1).
If you prefer you can add the powder in your foaming net and use it with your foam cleanser.

To be honest the first time I tried it, I was blown away, it really made my skin looks super smooth and supple both visually and to the touch. I was super impressed! Now I’ve used it about 6 times and I’m still fond of it. I use it either one or twice a week. And it really makes a difference, my skin feels baby smooth after I use it and my pores are less visible and look cleaner especially on my nose! I would definitely repurchase it!

Pros:
  • The composition is 100% natural with only leaf and root powder from herbs coming from the traditional Korean medicine. That's the first time I see a product like that!
  • The herbal scent which I find enjoyable. This is a 100% natural herbal scent, nothing chemical.
  • You can very easily choose the amount of exfoliation you want: add more water if you want something more gentle for example.
  • Price: the jar is only about $6.

Cons:
  • If you add too much water, it can be a bit difficult to apply to your face. Therefore I find it easier to add the powder and water in the palm of your hand rather than in a container/plate and then if you’ve added too much water, simply press the palm of your hand on your face and then massage the mixture on your whole face. You could otherwise add more powder :D
  • Doesn’t come with a spatula to take the powder out of the jar. Not really a con in fact.

Overall, I’m more than happy with this exfoliating powder mix. I love the concept of the 100% Korean herbs, nothing more. I also particularly love the smell of it, it feels fresh and really reminds me of the scent of traditional dried Swiss herbs :D I just cannot express how heart-warming it feels. It leaves my skin super soft, I've actually never felt it that soft!

  1. I love k-beauty products and I honestly never heard of swanicoco. But the concept of a powdered exfoliant is super intriguing to me. I will have to check out if this is available in Australia.
