Leaders Sheet Masks have landed in Switzerland

8:39 PM

Leaders, the famous Korean brand expert in sheet masks has landed in Switzerland at Marionnaud and if you know me well, you can imagine how excited I was when I heard this news! Their Aquaringer mask (featured in my blog banner :p ) is one of my favorite sheet masks by the way ;D

ABOUT THE BRAND

I always thought that Leaders was a pure Korean brand but no, it's actually a Swiss-Korean brand or at least for the sheet masks sold in Europe, Switzerland is a key player!

Leaders was first launched as a spa clinic using its own brand in 2004 by top dermatologists from South Korea's #1 university, Seoul National University.

For more than 10 years, Leaders Cosmetics have been using the most innovative methods and have been working with ingredients from all around world to offer innovative products to cater for everyone's needs.
Following the success of the Leaders Cosmetics products in Asia, they decided to launch on the Western market (USA and Europe).

The Leaders masks sold in Europe are produced in Switzerland (the masks sold in Korea and in the US are made in Korea)!

LINES

At the moment in Switzerland 2 lines are available:
  • the Dailywonders masks, which are cotton natural cellulose masks (similar to "regular sheet masks")
  • the 7 Wonders masks, which are coconut bio cellulose masks

The DailyWonders Masks

"The DailyWonders line utilizes the best kept secrets of Switzerland to bring you fun and functional cosmetics. Formulated to add some flavour to your daily skin care routine and give you that 15 minutes of well-deserved "me time".

This line consists in 7 different masks to target different needs: soothing and anti-stress (01 Zenitude), intense hydrating (02 Rainwater), anti-blemish and pore clearing (03 SkinGlow), soothing and calming (04 Sunshine), refreshing and energy boosting (05 After-Party), exfoliating and smoothing (06 XO-liating), anti-pollution (07 Urban Shield).
Each mask contain 25 mL of serum. They feel very wet but are not dripping.

The main ingredients (up to fragance) are the same for the 4 masks that I've tried and I guess it's actually the same for the 7 masks. The differences lie in the ingredients at the end of the ingredient lists (i.e., present in low amount).

The masks contain water, butylene glycol (slip agent, penetration enhencer), glycerine (humectant).  Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer is a thickener and emulsifying agent. Chamomile has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and is a particularly interesting soothing plant. Portula Oleracea is also anti-inflammatory, betaine is an humectant and anti-irritant, sugar Maple extract could have antioxidant properties (not very well studied), arnica is a well-know anti-inflammatory alpine plant and finally Houttuynia Cordata is also an anti-inflammatory plant.

XO-liating
> Exfoliating, Smoothing, Even Skin Tone

The exfoliating properties are related to the pineapple, papaya, and apple fruit extracts. The Fig fruit extract could be responsible for the "smoothing and even skin tone claim"; I found an article showing its effect on melanine showing it could be used to treat hyper pigmentation, acne, freckles and wrinkles (1). However all these fruit extracts are present in low amount. Therefore,  the effects of the mask are mainly the effects attributed to the main ingredients listed above (hydration, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory properties).

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Betaine, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Xanthan Gum, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Fragrance, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ledum Palustre Extract, Saururus Chinese Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Fruit Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract, Malus Domestica Fruit Extract, Lecithin, Gentiana Lutea Root Extact, Pheonoxyethanol, Hexanoyl Dipeptide-3 Norleucine Acetate.

Zenitude
> Calming, Soothing, Even Complexion

The diffrence from the other masks is the addition of calendula, which is used to treat burns (including sunburns), bruises and cutaneous and internal inflammatory diseases. Therefore it has a calming and soothing effects on skin. Again it is present here in low amount. Therefore,  the effects of the mask are mainly the effects attributed to the main ingredients listed above (hydration, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory properties).

Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Betaine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Fragrance, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ledum Palustre Extract, Saururus Chinese Extract, Artemisia Absinthium Extract, Artemisia Capillaris Flower Extract, Ecklonia Cava Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Linum Alpinum Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Calendula Officinalis (Marigold) Flower Extract, Gentiana Lutea Root Extract, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-40.

After-Party
> Refreshing, Soothing, Healthy Glow

The difference with the other masks is the presence of Artemisia Umbelliformis (white genepì) and ginseng root extract. Ginseng is anti-aging, antioxidant, anti-inflammtory (I wrote about it here in more details). White genepi is an intesreting alpine plant that has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties (and it's also used for the production of liquor but that's another thing :p ). Again it is present here in low amount. Therefore,  the effects of the maks are mainly the effects attributed to the main ingredients listed above (hydration, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory properties).

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Betaine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Fragrance, Sodium Hyaluronate, Panthenol, Ledum Palustre Extract, Saururus Chinese Extract, Artemisia Absinthium Extract, Artemisia Capillaris Flower Extract, Ecklonia Cava Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Artemisia Umbelliformis Extract, Glycine, Sorbitol, Gentiana Lutea Root Extract, Citric Acid, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Copper Tripeptide-1, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein.

SkinGlow
> Healthy glow, Tighten pores, Even Complexion

The main difference for this mask is the addition of witch hazel. Witch hazel is antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and astringent.

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Betaine, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Leaf Extract, Xanthan Gum, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Fragrance, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ledum Palustre Extract, Saururus Chinese Extract, Artemisia Absinthium Extract, Artemisia Capillaris Flower Extract, Ecklonia Cava Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Epilobium Fleischeri Extract, Gentiana Lutea Root Extract, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Acetyl Dipeptide-3 Aminohexanoate.

THOUGHTS on the DailyWonders
Overall the main ingredients of the masks are really interesting and good with a lot of soothing and anti-inflammatory plant extracts. I especially like that they included alpine plants like chamomile and arnica as main ingredients! There is also the Korean touch with Houttuynia Cordata. There is also some ginseng (although in low amount) in one of the masks.
All the masks are more or less the same, there is no huge differences between them and they all leave the skin super moist and hydrated! I would definitely repurchase them! They are perfect for a boost of hydration. They are also great to travel with and can easily replace your serum step.

The 7 Wonders Masks

"Each mask was formulated using unique cultural ingrédients and methods which could only be discovered by sourcing the globe. Leaders discovered the 7 Wonder Oils for the skin and fused them with modern, innovative Swiss technology to create the most effective, diverse formulas."

The material of these masks is Coconut Bio Cellose. Coconut Bio Cellose is made from biofermented coconut juice. This gives them a soft texture that adheres perfectly to the skin and provides a pleasant feeling of freshness and well-being. This is different than hydrogel masks by the way. I must agree 100% with the pleasant feeling of freshness and well-being and yep, the masks adhere really well to the skin! Honestly I love how the mask felt and I will definitely repuchase coconut bio cellulose masks!
Each masks contains 26mL of serum. They are not dripping, all the essence is trapped in the mask. So if you are not into super wet masks, this line is for you! Also when you remove the mask, your skin is not as wet as with cotton masks but the skin still feels moisturized. It's actually like if the serum were completely absorbed deeper into the skin.

Oriental Camelia Calming Mask
> Irritation relieving care

This mask uses Camelia Oil extract, already acclaimed as a "miracle oil" in Asia. This irritation relieving mask helps to restore skin's radiance and resilience by calming redness and minor irritation.

Camelia seed oil seems present in reasonable amount in the mask. Camelia oil is a powerful antioxidant ingredient and also a great moisturizer. It's a precious beauty oil that Japanese and Korean women love! And so do it! ;D

Water, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Glycerin, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Betaine, Camellia Oleifera Seed Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Xanthan Gum, Fragrance, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Ledum Palustre Extract, Saururus Chinensis Extract, Artemisia Absinthium Extract, Artemisia Capillaris Flower Extract, Ecklonia Cava Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Alcohol, Linum Alpinum Flower/Leaf/Steam Extract, Gentiana Lutea Root Extract, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Caprylic/Capric Trigylceride, Citric Acid, Lecithin, Retinyl Palmitate, Potassium Sorbate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Acetyl Tretrapeptide-40, Phenoxyethanol, Benzoic Acid.

Amazonian Açaí Revitalizing Mask
> Clearing and reblancing care

This mask uses Açaí Oil extract, formulated to protect the skin against city stress by helping to keep the skin moist, promote its elasticity and help dull skin to look refreshed.

Just as for the Camelia mask, Açaí oil seems to be present in reasonable amont in the mask. Açaí is a powerful antioxidant and the oil is rich in fatty acids, which makes it a perfect moisturizer, amazing to nourish the skin!

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Betaine, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Euterpe Oleracea (Açaí) Oil, Caprylyl Glycol, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Xanthan Gum, Fragrance, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Ledum Palustre Extract, Saururus Chinensis Extract, Artemisia Absinthium Extract, Artemisia Capillaris Flower Extract, Ecklonia Cava Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Propylene Glycol, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Fumaria Officinalis Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Alcohol, Buddleja Dvidii Extract, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Gentiana Lutea Root Extract, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Fumaric Acid, Lecithin, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Sorbitol, Phenoxyethanol, Benzoic Acid.

THOUGHTS on the 7 Wonders
First I really like the coconut Bio Cellose material. It makes the mask adhere very well to the skin (and it's easier to drink while wearing them than a regular cotton mask, I know some people like drinking a glass of wine while sheet masking lol) and it gives a super comfortable feeling. I really had the impression that I was pampering my skin like never before. I'm also happy to see that each mask contains a decent amount of the claimed oils (camelia and açaí). Both oil are super popular and effective and it's therefore a pleasure to use them. Both masks left my skin super soft and moisturized. I would gladly repurchase them!
