OPI - Hawaii collection
10:23 PMHi there,
Are you ready for spring yet? I am! It feels so nice that the sun is going down a bit later and leaving work in the evening when it's not completely dark anymore makes me happy :D What about you?
So here I am with the new OPI collection for spring/summer inspired by Hawaii! If you want to know more about the collection, you can read the press release here.
I have 2 polishes from this collection to show but I'll probably get a few others (Lost My Bikini in Molokini and That's Hula-rious!). By the way, the collection is already available in Switzerland!
Just Lanai-ing Around - "This dark, creamy mauve says "hang loose!" in style."
It's a medium mauve with very subtle shimmer. You mostly see the shimmer when the polish is wet but when it dries, it almost look like a pure creme, you just have a very subtle effect. It's a superb everyday shade that fits for any occasion.
I used 2 coats and it is easy to work with.My Gecko Does Tricks - "Being bright and pearly green is just one of its talents"
It's a bright yellow-based metallic green. It's very bright! In the shade, it shifts to a slightly orangey-brown. Wow, this one was a real suprise for me! I love green polishes but I was not sure about a green metallic polish but it turns out it's a gorgeous lacquer and I LOVE it!
It used 2 coats.
I played with it and tried the water spotted technique. I did a tutorial a long time ago for this technique. You can see it HERE.
Here I did the same except I waited that the layer of polish formed at
the surface of the water was completey dry. When it was dry, I used it
as a nail decal as you would do for dry water marble (so can I call thid technique, the dry water spotted technique? lol).
The
nail decal is very fragile (because of the spots) so you have to
manipulate it very carefully. So I think the regular water spotted
technique as explained here is easier.
Anyway, I used OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine! as a base color for my ring and middle finger, a first spotted manicure with German-icure by OPI and then a second one with My Gecko Does Tricks.
with German-icure by OPI, Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine!, My Gecko Does Tricks, and my Daniel Wellington watch!
My Gecko Does Tricks is exactly the same color as the new Coca Cola Life can!! :D
