Dior - Golden Shock (Holiday 2014)
11:22 PMHello,
I hope you all had a great day!
Tonight I have swatches of the gorgeous Golden Shock collection by Dior.
To learn more about this collection, you can read the press release information HERE.
Dior released 4 nail polishes for this collection plus a Gold Leaf Effect Topcoat and I have swatches of the top coat. It looks so beautiful in the bottle, it's a true gem :D
I used 1 coat of the Gold Leaf Effect Topcoat over Dior Amazonia (I love this color for fall by the way!). Application is not the easiest as you have to fish for the gold pieces. And you have to dab the brush on the nails rather than to swipe it if you want to get more glitters. But once you get the hang of it, it's alright.
To tell you the truth, I think the polish is really pretty and festive and appropriate for the holidays, but I prefer smaller glitters. I think they're a bit too large and thick. Maybe Dior could have done a top coat with real gold flakes. It would have suited the glamor and luxury of the Dior house very well. But still, this top coat is very pretty and I will enjoy wearing it as an accent nail :D
Then we have the Diorific lipstick called 007 Passion Shock.
The new Diorific lipsticks are totally unique! The bullet is cut in half with one side being a vibrant and satin hue while the other side is lighter and shimmery.
What is absolutely brilliant is that with one lipstick you can create 3 different looks. You can either use only one of the 2 shades or mix them to create a unique look.
According to Dior description, these duo lipsticks are supposed to be matte on one side and sheerer and shinier on the other. One side is indeed sheerer and shiner with an almost metallic finish, while the second side is not completely matte, it's velvety but there is still some shimmer in it.
As you already probably know I'm a huge fan of Dior lipsticks in general because they are moisturizing, you can even wear them if your lips are a bit dry, they last for a long time and if you like pigmented lipsticks, Diorific and Rouge Dior lines are your best friends! Passion shock is no exception, it performs very well in terms of pigmentation, application, formula, and has a long lasting power.

And finally I have the couture colour eyeshadow palette called 046 Golden Reflections. The Golden Shock collection offers 2 palettes, one with warmer tones (Golden Shock) and one with cooler tones (Golden Reflections).
046 Golden Reflections features gold, beige, and gray shades.
#1 (upper left corner) is a shimmery pewter eyeshadow with good pigmentation. You have to work it a bit to blend it correctly.
#2 (upper right corner) is an original tone of gold as it has some olive undertones. This is my favorite eyeshadow from this palette. I'm crazy about it! It is very pigmented and is silky soft. It's very easy to blend.
#3 (middle) is a very shimmery gold with multicolored (green, pink, gold) glitters. It's sheer and it mainly adds glitters. You can layer it over any other colors to add dimenstion to them. Something I also like doing for a festive look is to add some glitters on the top of my cheeks and this eyeshadow is perfect for that.
#4 (lower left corner) is a beige with pink undertones. It has an almost matte finish (yay! I love matte eyeshadows!). It has a rather good color payoff for such a light shade.
#5 (lower right corner) is a mushroom taupe color. Depending on your skin tone, you can see some purple undertones. It's a great color to create subtle smoky eyes.
So I hope you like this collection as much as I do! Have you already picked something from this collection and what do you plan to get?
