Innisfree Mineral Sunscreens: Intensive Triple care (2019 version) and Daily Sensitive
5:45 PM
Hi everyone,
I have a review of 2 sunscreens I'm using at the moment and both of them are from Innsifree. Inisfree tends to reformulate their products quite often and here I have the review of the new version of 2019 of the Triple care sunscreen and the Daily sensitive one.
Innisfree Intensive Triple Care Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ / 50mL
CLAIMS
This sunscreen provides also anti-aging and whitening effects in addition to its UV protection. That is why it’s called “Triple Care”, i.e. anti-aging, whitening and UV protection!
Its powerful waterproof function makes it suitable for outdoor activities. Formulated with sunflower oil and Jeju green tea extract, it keeps skin moisturized while also providing protection against environmental stress. This is a mineral sunscreen (titanium dioxide, zinc oxide).

HOW IT LOOKS, FEELS, SMELLS
The product comes in a 50mL squeezable plastic tube that is convenient to carry around, it’s simple but effective.
The product itself is a beige cream. The texture is a bit thick but really creamy and is easy to spread. Although it’s a nano mineral sunscreen, I find that it does leave a white cast.
I’ve actually used the Triple Care for years -it was my favorite for years and I stopped counting how many tubes I’ve used up. That said, during the past 2 years or 1.5 years I decided to try other sunscreens, just because I love testing new products. And that’s only a couple of months ago that I ordered the new formulation of the triple care (the Intensive Triple Care Sunscreen, version 2019) on Jolse. In the past, I didn’t find the white cast to be really present, but now I find that it is definitely present. I’m not sure if this is due to the new formulation that shows more white cast or if this is due to my change of perception after trying other sunscreens. I have the impression the new formulation has more white cast though (almost pretty sure of it but don’t have an old tube to compare). Anyway, for me who am quite fair, this is not an issue but I guess if you’re darker than MAC NC15/20, it will be much more visible.

I don’t find that it leaves a sticky or goopy feeling on the skin. It’s absorbed quite fast and layer well with primer and makeup.
I didn’t notice any particular scent.
INGREDIENTS
Water, Clyclopentasiloxane, Zinx Oxide (Nano), Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Titanium Dioxide (Nano), PEG-10 Dimethicone, Butyloctyl Salicylate, Dipropylene Glycol, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Dicaprylyl Ether, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Magnesium Sulfate, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer, Mica, Dimethicone, Phenoxyehtanol, Propranediol, Sorbitan Caprylate, Octyldodecanol, Fragrance, Polyglyceryl-3-Polydimethylsiloxyethyl, Dimethicone, Iron Oxides (CI 77492), Glycerly Caprylate, Saccharide Hydrolysate, Cetearyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine, Echium Plantagineum Seed Oil, Iron Oxides (CI 77491), Centella Asiatica Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Butylene Glycol, Salvia Hispanica Seed Extract, Curcuma Longa (Tumeric) Root Extract, Iron Oxides (CI 77499), Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil Unsaponifiables, Cardiospermum Halicacabum Flower/Leaf/Vine Extract, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Leaf Extract, Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract, Camellia Japonica Leaf Extract, Opuntia Coccinellifera Fruit Extract, Orchid Extract, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate.
This is a mineral sunscreen containing Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, both under nano form, i.e. they’re supposed to cause less whitening and a better skin coverage. Also present is Butyloctyl Salicylate which is a sunscreen booster/stabilizer that can help increase the SPF performance of sunscreens (although it’s not a sunscreen agent per se). It's also cosmetically elegant, has excellent spreadability and a pleasant, moisturizing skin feel. Apart from the sunscreen active ingredients, it also contains niacinamide (hence the whitening aka brightening properties claims) and many botanical extracts with antioxidant properties.
FINAL THOUGHTS
What I like about this serum is the high protection, that it is sebum- and water-resistant, that it is quite unexpensive and relatively easy to find. My skin tolerates it well, I never experienced any bad reaction to it. It doesn’t have any particular scent and is quite easy to spread. One negative point though is that it leaves a white cast. This might be OK if you’re fair but if you’re medium or darker, you can almost forget about it. Overall I find it pretty neatly formulated and I like it (as I don’t mind the white cast that much considering I’m pale and follow with foundation). A last point, it’s supposed to be moisturizing, but I’m not sure about it. I’m normal to combo and for some reasons it makes the skin on my nose peel which is a bit annoying (the rest of my face is OK, I didn’t notice anything). For this last reason and the white cast, I decided to try another sunscreen from Innisfree, the Daily Sensitive Sunscreen. That said, because it’s such a gentle sunscreen that my skin can tolerate, I may and will probably repurchase it. I find it difficult to find a sunscreen that my skin tolerates.

The product comes in a 50mL rigid plastic bottle that is convenient to carry around as it looks really small although you get 50mL. The bottle is really compact.

Contrarily to the Triple Care which is a cream, the Daily Sensitive is an essence. Its texture is more fluid and lightweight. When you apply it, you can immediately feel a fresh sensation. As the texture is thin, it’s very easily absorbed and easy to spread. The white cast is really minimal. I have almost the impression to use a chemical sunscreen. This sunscreen is really cosmetically elegant and easy to wear.
It has a slight scent, not sure what it is, but it probably comes from the botanical extracts used.
INGREDIENTS
Water, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Titanium Dioxide (Nano), Butylene Glycol, Diproylene Glycol, Caprylyl Methicone, Butyloctyl Salicylate, 1,2-Hexandiol, Silica, Aluminium Stearate, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Titanium Dioxide, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Pentylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Tryglyceride, Alumina, Propanediol, Benzotriazolyl Dodecyl p-Cresol (Tinogard® TL), Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Fragrance, Saccharide Hydrolysate, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose Stearoxy Ether, Octyldodecanol, Glyceryl Caprylate, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Stearic Acid, Ethylhexyl Glycerin, Centella Asiatica Extract, Salvia Hispanica Seed Extract, Curcuma Longa (Tumeric) Root Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Echium Plantagineum Seed Oil, T-Butyl Alcohol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Cardiospermum Halicacabum Flower/Leaf/Vine Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil Unsaponifiables, Tocopherol
This is a mineral sunscreen containing titanium dioxide but no zinc oxide. Titanium Oxide appears twice in the ingredient list, probably because it’s present under different particle sizes in the formulation. Titanium Dioxide provides good protection against UVB and a part of the UVA spectrum but not against all the UVA spectrum (zinc oxide is more efficient for UVA by the way).
Also present is Benzotriazolyl Dodecyl p-Cresol aka Tinogard® TL. It is advertised as a broadband UV absorber for stabilization of transparent packaged products able to provide long-lasting shelf life even with light sensitive formulations. This is not a sunscreen agent per se but it can help optimize the formulation.

FINAL THOUGHTS
This sunscreen is just a dream to apply. It has such a thin and lightweight formula that it is easy to spread and it’s absorbed very quickly. White cast is very minimal, almost nonexistent. My sensitive skin can also tolerate it easily. I didn’t get any bad reaction or redness. I also don’t have the impression that it is drying. So honestly I really like how it applies and wears. I find it cosmetically very elegant. The only con for me would be the presence of only titanium dioxide as sunscreen agent. I’m not sure if it protects enough against the whole UVA spectrum. Against UVB there is no problem, I’m sure it does. That said it’s stated that is it PA++++ which means it should protect against UVA, too. Honestly I have a doubt and I cannot say for sure if the way it is formulated or if the presence of Tinogard can help extend the protection against higher wavelengths. So I have to trust Innisfree here.
In the same “daily” line, there is another sensitive/mild sunscreen, the Daily Mild Sunscreen. The Daily Mild is formulated with Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Ethylhexyl Triazone, and Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine as sunscreen agents, which actually sounds very intetesting! As a quick info, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate (Uvinul A Plus) provides protection against UVA; Ethylhexyl Triazone (Uvinul T 150), against UVB and the most interesting one, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine(Tinosorb s) is a photostable broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection. Although it’s a chemical sunscreen, it isn’t associated with skin irritation or hormone disruption like some older sun-filtering agents. Just looking at the ingredient list, I have the impression that the Daily Mild would be a great sunscreen for sensitive skin without providing white cast. I have to try it!
Bonus: side by side comparison of both sunscreens
