JJOYY Aloe Soothing Pads & Gwangchae Serum Masks [WishFormula]
4:22 PM
Hi everyone!
Here I am with a new K-beauty review. At the end of last year I had seen a new brand available at Jolse, namely JJOYY, and I was really curious by the products they offer. They have 4 versions of jumbo size jars packed with pads or masks! As I couldn't find any reviews on them, I decided to snatch the 4 versions to see how they perform and if they're worth it.
Apparently JJOY is a subbrand of WishFormula (the website address on the packaging is WishFormula). WishFormula is a Korean brand particularly famous for their pads (brightening or exfoliating, I reviewed some here).
The 4 versions of these jumbo jars are:
- Gwangchae Serum Masks - 30 masks
- Aloe Soothing Pads - 120 pads
- Ice Centella Pads - 120 pads
- Fermented Honey Bubble Peeling Pads - 15 pads
Today I'll review the Gwangchae Serum masks and the Aloe Soothing Pads and I'll do a part II with the 2 other jars ;D
Gwangchae Serum Masks
What are they? 30 sheet masks coming in a jumbo jar. The claims of the mask are the following: brightening, anti-wrinkle, and firming.
How they look/feel/smell? The 30 sheet masks come in a massive plastic jar and with mini tweezers to fish the masks out. They're a bit too small and not really convenient so I typically take the mask out of the jar with my fingers.
The material of the mask is of medium-thickness and feels comfortable on the skin. It's easy to flatten it on the skin. For me it's too big but as are all sheet masks :p I don't mind it as my hair line benefits from it :D
In the jar you also get lots of essence, i.e. 500mL! The essence is a milky essence, it's slightly gellified. It brings lots of hydration and a little bit of moisture, too. It feels slightly sticky.
It does have a fragrance (sorry can't really pinpoint what it is...) but it's not too strong and can only tell it when I apply it. When it's on, I can't really smell it any more.
Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Niacinamide, Beta-Glucan, Sodium Hyaluronate, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Allantoin, Impatiens Balsamina Flower Extract, Rosa Multiflora Fruit Extract, Lepidium Meyenii Root Extract, Eriobotrya Japonica Leaf Extract, Pachyrhizus Erosus Root Extract, Aureobasidium Pullulans Ferment, Butylene Glycol, Adenosine, Polyacrylate-13, Polyisobutene, Polysorbate 20, Sorbitan Isostearate, Sodium Polyacrylate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Parfum
Main ingredients are humectants (glycerin, dipropylene glycol, sodium hyaluronate ), macadamia oil (moisturizing/emollient), niacinamide (brightening, improve the appearance of enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, reduce redness), beta-glucan (soothing, reduce redness), and additional soothing agents or extracts (Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, allantoin).
You can also find quite a few plant extracts, such as for example Impatiens Balsamina Flower (aka rose balsam; used in traditional medicine to treat various issues including skin inflammation, could possess an antibiotic activity), Rosa Multiflora Fruit (aka Japanese rose; anti-aging through inhibition of some inflammatory phenomena and antioxidant properties), and Lepidium Meyenii Root Extract (aka Peruvian ginseng; not many scientific evidences of its activity).
Overall it's mainly an hydrating and soothing mask with additional anti-redness and brightening effects.
Thoughts: I must say that I actually really like these masks. Since a few months, I'm trying more and more sheet masks that come in multi pack because it's more convenient to use, I have the impression it's OK to use a mask a day whereas I feel more guilty to open a new mask everyday :D Who can relate? But so far, most of these multipack masks are on the drier side or at least are not as soaked in essence as single pack masks. But that's not the case of these masks and that's one of the reasons I like them. They're really soaked in essence and leave your face super soft, bouncy and hydrated. The only con I could see is that they leave a slightly tacky residue, I personally don't really mind it, but I know some people do so I wanted to mention it.
In terms of ingredients, I also find them rather interesting. There are quite a lot of active ingredients and they deliver what they claim. The fragrance wouldn't have been necessary but I don't mind it that much.
Overall they're masks I would recommend if you want many masks that are super soaked in essence and that provide a little bit of brightening effect.
Aloe Soothing Pads
What are they? 120 pads soaked in 550mL of gel essence. They claim to be calming, moisturizing and nourishing. Each pad is rather larger and can be used on the face and/or on the body.
How they look/feel/smell? The pads are quite big (8.5x9.5cm oval pads). They're made of medium-thickness material. Each pad is soaked in a gel essence. When you take a pad out of the jar, you get a ton of gel (almost too much :D ). The gel is not thick but rather thin and is easy to spread on the skin. It takes a few minutes to be absorbed. When you remove the pads after ~20min, you still have a little bit of gel on that you can massage it in. After a few minutes, there is still a little bit of stickiness left but this is minimal. They leave the skin hydrated, soft and fresh.
They have a fresh fragrance that I thought was a bit too strong at first but eventually I got used to it and now I don't mind it anymore.
Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Arginine, Panthenol, Allantoin, Carbomer, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Chlorphenesin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Maltodextrin, Parfum
These pads main ingredients are humectants, aloe leaf extract, Arginine, Panthenol, and Allantoin.
Humectants draw water into the skin and are therefore important for hydration. Aloe is a great soothing ingredient, just as panthenol and allantoin. Arginine possesses antioxidant properties. So indeed these pads are hydrating and soothing!
Thoughts: Again if you're looking for lots of soothing pads, these might be a great option for you. You get 120 pads and honestly I think the ingredients are not bad. Without fragrance would be even better but that's OK. I've used them mainly on my face but I guess these would be super practical in summer when you need to give a bit more oomph to your body hydration game or need extra soothing. They leave the skin soft and hydrated and leave a slightly fresh almost cooling sensation which gives the impression to have a firmer skin. That's not bad at all, it actually feels really nice :D
