Estée Lauder Holiday 2017

9:40 PM

It's almost Christmas! OMG, I can't believe it! :D Do you have all the gifts for your friends, family and yourself ready? If you need more ideas, here I have 2 of sets that Estée Lauder released this year to celebrate the end of the year!

As every year, Estée Lauder has launched  lot of sets, either focused on makeup or on skincare and there is also a special set , the Blockbuster, an amazing set that contains all Estée Lauder best sellers in terms of both skincare and makeup.

Estée Lauder Blockbuster 2017

This set contains:
  • A Pure Color Envy Sculpting eyeshadow palette - Day
  • Pure Color Envy Sculpting eyeshadow palette - Night
  • A Pure Color Envy Sculpting blush palette
  • 2 Pure Color Envy lipsticks in Irresistible and Envious
  • A Sumptuous Extreme mascara in Black
  • An Advanced Night Repair Serum 30ml
  • A makeup remover 100ml
  • A Revitalizing Supreme + Global Anti-aging Cell Power Creme7ml

You know, I've already talked about Estée Lauder Advanced Night Serum a lot on this blog and on IG, and I honestly think this is one of the best serums in the world. Yes, you heard it correclty! It's packed with antioxidants, bifida ferment lysate (read more about this ingredient here), and many skin beneficial ingredients. It's perfect for sensitive skin as it will soothe and hydrate the skin plus protect it against the environmental assaults.

Then the gentle makeup remover is indeed very gentle (Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate as a cleansing agent = very mild) and effective so yep, always great to find it there :D

Also the 2 Pure Color Envy lipsticks are on point. I love Estée Lauder lipstick formula in their Pure Color Envy range (more here) and these 2 are no exception. They are creamy and super comfortable and they last pretty well on the lips plus they don't move around. The colors are flattering for a large range of skin colors.

The blush palette is also very intersting. The blush are nicely pigmented and are easily blendable.

And finally the 2 eyeshadow palettes are less impressive. The colors are beautiful but they are not very pigmented and I find some of the shades a bit too dry. They work OK for diffused looks but not for a very defined eye makeup. So I wouldn't buy this set for the palettes alone but they're a nice addition I would say.

Summary: this set is already worth it only for the Advanced Night Repair Serum. In Switzerland the set costs CHF 108 and the 30mL serum retails for CHF 95. This means you get the beautiful suitcase (the quality is great and you can easily reuse it to carry documents or your makeup), the 3 palettes, the makeup remover, the mascara and the 2 lipsticks almost for nothing! Isn't it a great deal! So if you're interested in this serum, I would say that that's the time to get it!
I find this set really intersting and would recommend it.

The Color Portfolio Set

OK, I'm not gonna lie, this huge palette is impressive and looks beautiful. The packaging is also very festive with the gold and glittery polka dots on a black background. And I also love the details of the clasp.
When you open the palette, you will find 6 palettes (5 eyeshadows + a lip product) created around different looks (safari, bohemian, playful, bronzed, etc), 2 highlighters, 2 blushes, and 2 bronzers!

In terms of pigmentation and texture, I love the highlighters (a white-based and a peachy one), blushes (a peach and a pink one) and bronzers (a matte and a shimmery one). The highlighters are perfect for a soft and natural highlight, the blushes are nicely pigmented and the bronzers are very pigmented. I was a bit shocked by the pigmentation of  29 Sculpting Bronzer the first time I tried it.

On the other hand, concerning the eyeshadows, they're not very pigmented and are therefore better for soft and diffused looks. They're great if you want something quicky and easy and don't want to make mistakes. On the other hand, if you want something very pigmented for a very defined eye look, you may not like them that much. I also found a couple of the shimmery darker shades (the green in the Safari palette, the purple in the Playful palette for example) to be very dry and difficult to pick with a brush, which is a bit sad as the colors look great. The easiest palettes to use and with the better pigmentation are the Bohemian and the Bronzed ones.
So overall, I think the highlighter/blush/bronzer palette is nicely executed with products with great quality. For the eyeshadows, they're aimed to please people that prefer soft and diffused eye looks.
