J.One Jelly Pack, Hana Cream and Sheet Mask

1:11 AM

Who is into skintertainment?  You know these products that are a bit unusual, just beautiful and completely fascinating? That's something I love and I'm always excited when I get to try such interesting products!

J.One is a Korean brand that quickly got famous because it is linked to the actress, Ha JiWon, who launched the brand in 2015. She wanted to create a skincare line that not only works wonders but also simplifies the skincare routine. For example her Jelly Pack can be used as you sole moisturizer in the morning and it also doubles as a primer. At night, it can be used as sleeping pack.

I received the Jelly Pack, Hana Cream and the 2-Steps Jelly Pack Luminous Mask (sheet mask) from TheCuratedSkin, a new Swiss-based online store that wants to bring to the Swiss market new, innovative and amazing products. They search the best products all over the word and so far have brands from Korea, Poland, Sweden.

J.ONE HANA CREAM

CLAIMS
"This rich facial cream with its spherical futuristic little balls - each containing just enough product for one application - is the epitome of Korean skin care innovation. It contains the Nobel prize winning ingredient, fullerene that helps combat free radicals, brightens the skin and reduces wrinkles."

HOW IT LOOKS / FEELS / SMELLS
The most amazing part of this cream is its format. The cream is formulated as pearls (or capsules) and one pearl is enough to moisturize your whole face (I'm watching The Legend of the Blue Sea and these pearls remind me of Cheong's pearls. Am I the only one ? >_<).

The pearls are quite firm. Typically, what I do is the following: I scoop a pearl out of the jar with the provided spatula. I put it in my palm and crush it with my index. You have to apply a certain pressure because the pearl is firm. Once it's crushed, you get a rich cream that you can apply on your face.

The cream feels very rich and moisturizing because it contains Macadamia Seed Oil, Sunflower Seed oil, Palm Oil, and Shea Butter. It's rich but it doesn't feel suffocating, probably because with this format I don't apply a too large amount but just enough to create a thin layer. I can also really feel the shea butter part of the cream in terms of texture. It doesn't leave any oily residues on my face and is quickly absorbed (for info, I have normal skin).
It is fragranced and has a powdery scent. The scent is quite present and lingers for a couple of minutes but I personally don't mind it. If you don't like scented products, this is not for you.

INGREDIENTS
Water, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Propanediol, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Dipropylene Glycol, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil, Shea Butter, Niacinamide, Centella Asiatica Extract, Tremella Fuciformis (Mushroom) Extract, Anemarrhena Asphodeloides Root Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Beta-Glucan, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Agar, Panthenol, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Pentylene Glycol, Betaine, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Cyclopentasiloxane, Hydrogenated Poly (C6-14 Olefin), Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Sodium Polyacrylate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine, Salicylic Acid, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Dimethiconol, Potassium Hydroxide, PVP, Dimethicone, Sorbitan Laurate, Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin, Cyclomethicone, Tocopheryl Acetate, Hydroxyethyl Ethyl Cellulose, Acetyl Dipeptide-1 Cetyl Ester, Beta-Sitosterol, Cholesterol, Propylene Glycol, Glyceryl Linolenate, Glyceryl Linoleate, Glyceryl Arachidonate, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Ubiquinone, Caprylyl Glycol, Ceteth-24, Choleth-24, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Thioctic Acid, Brassica Campestris (Rapeseed) Sterols, PEG-5 Rapeseed Sterol, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Riboflavin, Ceteth-3, Ceteth-5, Palmitoyl Dipeptide-5, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Ceramide 3, Phytosphingosine, Fullerenes, Biotin, Tocopherol, Folic Acid, Pyridoxine, Alcohol, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.

INGREDIENT ANALYSIS
There are many ingredients in this cream so I won’t go into the detail of everything.
Some of the main ingredients are:

Macadamia Seed Oil, Sunflower Seed oil, Palm Oil, Shea Butter: moisturizer, emollient. They are pretty high in the ingredient lists (macadamia oil is the second ingredient!) which means the creams is very moisturizing.

Then it contains some solvents and functional ingredients to tune the texture of the cream (water, propranediol, butylene glycol Dipropylene Glycol, Hydrogenated Lecithin), some humectants to draw water in your skin and bring hydration (glycerin, panthenol, betaine).

Then comes niacinamide (vitamin B3). Nacinamide is a superstar ingredient in cosmetics. It has a large body of scientific literature that demonstrates its benefits for skin. I can actually improve skin’s elasticity, enhance its barrier function, stimulate microcirculation, help erase discolorations, and revive skin’s healthy tone and texture (i.e. it’s brightening). It is also able to treat an uneven skin tone and to mitigate acne and the red marks it leaves behind (known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation).

Next we have some botanical extracts, such as Centella Asiatica (wound healing, increase collagen synthesis, anti-inflammatory), a mushroom (Tremella Fuciformis aka white jelly fungus) extract, and Anemarrhena Asphodeloides Root Extract, which is a plant that is used in traditional medicine in China, Korea, Japan, and Mongolia. It is anti-inflammatory. Tremella Fuciformis has some wound healing promotion properties (1) as well as antioxidant and anti-aging activities (2).

Beta glucan has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, and skin-soothing properties and could be useful to improve the look of redness and other signs of sensitive skin.

In lower amount and toward the end of the ingredient list (I don’t know if they are present in concentration large enough to be effective) we have 2 peptides (Palmitoyl Dipeptide-5, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8) that could have interesting anti-aging properties; Ceramide 3 and Phytosphingosine, key players in the regulation of the sin barrier homeostatis and finally Fullerene: this is a special ingredient – it’s composed entirely of carbon, in form of a hollow sphere, ellipsoid or tube. It’s a not very common ingredient in skincare. I know that some Japanese products use fullerene and claim it to be antioxidant. As I had no experience with it, I did a quick literature review of fullerene and topical application.

Apparently there are several papers that were published in the 90s about the safety of fullerene for topical applications. There are contradictory publication results, but it seems overall safe. However as it’s not widely use and fairly new, I think we still need more data to know exactly how we should approach this particular class of compounds. That said, in the low concentration used here, I think there is nothing to worry too much about. Concerning its effects, it is reported to be a powerful antioxdiant, able to protect the cells from free radicals damages. If you want to know more about fullerene, you can read this article about medial applications of fullerene (3).

Overall what you should expect: the effects from the emollients (oils, shea butter) (aka a super boost of moisture for your skin), niacinamide (brightening, to give you that Korean glow) and from the anitoxidant and wound-healing botanical ingredients.
The anti-wrinkle claims come from the emollients and niacinamide.

THOUGHTS

This is a very rich and emollient cream that is nicely formulated and portionned in individual capsules or pearls. Of course, I love the pearl format because this is unique and fun! And I always like to bring fun products in my skincare routine (we don't want boring products, don't we?)!
I normally don't use rich creams very often as I have normal skin but I must stay that despite the very rich and super moisturizing property, it worked with my skin very well when applied as a sleeping mask just before going to bed. It really helps to moisture the skin, a true moisture bomb for me.
I also like that the cream includes niacinamide, an ingredient proven to be effective to brighten the skin and improve its elasticity, some humectants and some anti-inflammatory and antioxidant plant extracts. Overall this is a fun and great cream for people with normal to dry skin. If you have oily skin, this will probably be too rich for you.

J.ONE JELLY PACK

CLAIMS
"The J.One Jelly Pack can be applied to cleansed skin first thing in the morning as a multitasking treatment, mask, and primer—working to instantly hydrate and prime the skin for makeup. Created by top Korean actress Jiwon Ha to help condense her morning skin care routine, the unique, jelly-like texture liquefies onto skin with gentle patting and creates a canvas which helps to grip any makeup applied afterwards. Fullerene works to address free radicals and brighten the appearance of skin, while fragmented hyaluronic acid hydrates for a plumper appearance. This gel-like mask is duped as the “corset mask” can instantly and visibly plump your face, smooth out wrinkles and shrink pores."

HOW IT LOOKS / FEELS / SMELLS
It is a very thick and viscous gel. The texture is really unique and I had never seen such a high viscosity gel to be honest. This is typically a product you have to get used to and importantly you have to apply it in the correct manner. Don't rub it or massage it in your skin, it will start to ball up and act weirdly. You have to pump the product about 4-6 times on the back of your hand, take it careful and swipe it across your cheeks, forhead and chin. Then pat, pat, pat!
There is a video of Ha JiWon applying it below.

Once applied, your skin will feel sticky. It lasts for a couple of minutes and then the stickiness is gone for me. I didn't notice a particular scent.
I've used it in the morning as a moisturizer-primer multi-tasker. The main thing I noticed is that it brings much hydration and it also smoothes your skin. I didn't notice a tightening or "corset" effect but if I touch my skin, I can feel it's a bit plumper. But again, for me (normal skin, not really uneven and don't have very large pores) the main thing with this pack is hydration, a bit like when you're thirsty and you drink a large glass of fresh water! For info, in the morning I've used it as my last skincare step before using sunscreen. I only waited for about 2 min before proceeding to the suncreen application.
I've also tried it as a sleeping pack as my last step in my evening routine and I also really like using it that way because I have the impression it seals in all my previous skincare steps and make them more active.

INGREDIENTS
Purified Water, Polysorbate 80, PEG-150 Distearate, Niacinamide, 1,2-Hexanediol, Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Water, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Water, Oat Seed extract, Glycerine, Dipropylene Glycol, Adenosine, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Palmitoyl Proline, Cyclopentasiloxane, Butylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Dimethicone/vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Sucrose Distearate, PEG-8, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Potassium Sorbate, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, PVP, Fullerene, Disodium EDTA, Dehydroacetic Acid, Cabomer, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium benzoate, Citric acid, Dihyrdroacetic acid, Saccharomyces/Xylinum/Black Tea Ferment

It contains some solvents and functional ingredients to tune the texture of the gel (water, Polysorbate 80, PEG-150 Distearate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Dipropylene Glycol). The 4th ingredient (quite concentrated) is niacinamide, a very powerful ingredient that has brightening and skin elasticity improvement properties. Then we have 3 flower waters (rose, rosemary, and chamomile), oat seed extract that has antioxidant and soothing properties. Some humectants (glycerine, hyaluronic acid) are also included for increased skin hydration. Then comes adenosine (anti-inflammatory, skin-restorgin) and finally hyaluronic acid (humectant).

THOUGHTS

This is a very unique jelly pack due to its original texture. It's a very thick gel that is a real multi-tasker in my opinion. It can be used in the morning as a moisturizer (it brings hydration rather than moisture to be precise) and it also acts as a primer because it smoothes the skin. For me the skin-smoothing, corset effect was minimal but present.
In the evening it also works wonderfully as a sleeping pack. Due to its "weird" texture, some people love it and some hate it.
I would say that if you like unusual products, don't mind sticky products (although the stickiness really lasts only a couple of minutes) and want something that is lightweight, that brings much hydration and that can act as both a primer and sleeping mask, you will probably love it!
For me, I like this and since I got it, I've used it everyday and I actually like it more and more each time I used it. First time I used it, I thought it was a nice moisturizer but didn't notice a big different in how my skin felt and the more I use it, the more I can feel this "corset" feeling.
In summary, the PROS are: i) unusual texture, ii) multi-tasker, iii) acts as a primer and sleeping mask, iv) brings hydration, v) can have a more or less prononced tightening, skin-smoothing effect. The CONS are: i) is sticky for a couple of minutes, ii) you need to use 4-6 pumps to cover your whole face, which seems to be a lot of product.

J.ONE JELLY PACK LUMINOUS MASK

"This 2-steps mask from J.One is the perfect pick-me-up treatment to that instant glow. It is so intense; you can skip serum and moisturizer. The first step is a black sheet mask that hydrates and soothes the skin while in the second step you can try the famous Jelly Pack for that extra plump feeling."

This is a Bamboo Charcoal fabric sheet mask (black fabric). It's drenched in essence (as I like my sheet masks). It feels super hydrating and leaves your skin plump and rested.
Just as the other J.One products, this mask contains a great amount of niacinamide (brightens the skin, increases skin's elasticity), which is amazing! It also contains many beneficial ingredients (glycerin, allantoin, caffeine, some antioxidant and anti-inflammatory plant extracts). Note that it contains alcohol (in still reasonable/OK-ish concentration), probably here to help the essence sink deeply into the skin. I personally don't really mind it here but I wanted to mention it.

Overall for me this is a great sheet mask, nicely soaked in essence. It brings much hydration and leaves the skin a bit brighter (temporary effects but present). This is typically a mask that I would love to take in my luggage when I go on a business trip as it contains a sheet mask + the Jelly pack!

  7. That is an authoritative report. Testo Ultra has not been at its peak for more than two weeks. I suspect that is the way some maniacs deal with Testo Ultra and you should keep this in mind. Well, as wizards say, "Don't tempt fate." In effect, no lie. I needed a new outlook.
With these thoughts on Testo Ultra come others as that touches on Testo Ultra. By what means do communities spot admirable Testo Ultra desires? To what degree do eggheads save online Testo Ultra products? I don't see that much hope for Testo Ultra in this area, however. Testo Ultra is your best defense against Testo Ultra.
