Hi everyone!

Earlier this week I showed a preview of the new collection for Spring 2017 by Dior called Colour Gradation (here) and in this blog post, I have swatches of some of the items :D In this collection is also introduced a new color of the Dior Addict Lip Glow balm and I decided to also show the other color availble in the standard assortment. Plus there is a new backstage secret revealed: a lip scrub in a stick format!

Peter Philips, the Creative and Image Director of Dior Makeup, celebrates a color-loaded spring season by revisiting the “gradient makeup” trend in the Colour Gradation collection

Dior Colour Gradation Palette - Blue Gradation

Dior creates a brand new eye makeup palette that plays on four tone variations with a springtime glow and comes adorned with the iconic Dior "plissé" pleating.

The palette is available in two harmonies, one based on a fresh blue and the other on pink.
- Blue Gradation:  4 tones from sky blue to the purest azure
- Coral Gradation: 4 tones from light coral to carnal bronze

First, this palette is a pure pleasure to look at! Gradation has something really captivating and I think that the design and colors are just beautiful.

The four colors of this palette are (from left to right):

  • a very light mint color with a super pretty glossy sheen
  • a light neutral blue with a more matte finish than the other colors of this palette (it doesn't have the glow/sheen of the others)
  • a medium glowy denim blue
  • a navy blue. The base color is a dark blue and it has a deep royal blue shimmer effect.

All the colors (except maybe the 2nd color from the left) have a gorgeous glow running through them but have no glitters. The darkest shade is especially pretty because of its depth and the royal blue shimmer, which gives the shadow an almost metallic look. I also really like the light mint shade, it can looks super pretty when used as a central color for an halo look for example. Using it in the inner corner of the eyes to bring light is another great option. The 2 other colors are a bit more difficult to use, blue eyeshadows can be challenging to use in an everyday look but when paired with a brown or grey eyeshadow they can work for an office appropriate look. Or you can be bold and full of self-confidence and go for an all blue eye look, playing with the gradation concept of the palette.

The eyeshadows are not particularly powdery, they are actually easy to use and blend.
I noticed that the color payoff of the 4 shadows is better when used with a brush rather than swatched with the fingers. So if you swatch them in store, I would suggest trying them with one of the applicators provided in the palette. I think they look more pigmented this way.

Overall I think the palette is worth it. So if you love the colors, don't hesitate because the quality is there and because let's be honest, the palette looks just gorgeous!

Dior - Lip Sugar Scrub

The latest innovation from Dior’s Backstage Pros is the Lip Sugar Scrub. It's an exfoliating and nourishing stick containing tiny grains of sugar that exfoliate and immediately melt in contact with the warmth of your lips for incredibly softer lips. It also provides a natural rosy pink color, similar to the Lip Glow balm in color 001 Pink.

  • Matte frosty packaging, easy to carry around in your bag.
  • A gentle lip scrub and color reviving lip balm all in one!
  • You don't need to wash it off or wipe it off. The grains of sugar are small and they immediately melt on your lips so that you are not left with any exfoliating particles on your lips. As a bonus the stick is moisturizing, exactly like a lip balm, and it also gives a pretty rosy tint.

Honestly I love this lip scrub: it's super gentle and you can use it at any time of the day, whenever you want, to rehydrate and nourish dry lips. I love that you don't need to wipe it off. It's so convenient and easier to use that traditional lip scrubs. However if you're looking for a heavy duty lip scrub, this one will not be for you. This one is perfect to use everyday to give a bit more oomph to your lips! Highly recommended!

Dior Addict Lip Glow - Color awakening lip balms

With the Colour Gradation collection for Spring, there is also a new addition to the Lip Glow Range, i.e. a berry color!

I've always been a huge fan of the Dior Addict Lip Glow balms. They have a great formula and I love the subtle and pretty tint they leave on the lips. The new addition to the Lip Glow range, 006 Berry, is a bit different than the previous releases because first it's much darker in the tube (look at that gorgeous berry shade!) and second, it leaves a more saturated color on the lips. The balm react with the humidity level of your lips for a custom color to match every skin tone. On me, it looks rather pink, while the lovely Kédidja of BeautyMoodBoard told me that it looked more purple on her :D

The Berry color is a limited edition so grab it while you can! ;D

l-r: Lip Sugar Scrub, Lip Glow in 004 Coral, 001 Pink, 005 Lilac, 006 Berry.

The 4 colors give a wash of color on your lips and the 4 colors do look different on your lips although you can't see the difference very well on my arm swatches. The brighter colors are Coral and Berry and Pink and Lilac looks lighter on my lips. Lilac looks slightly more cool-toned than Pink.

I think the Dior Addict Lip Glow balm in combination with the Lip Sugar Scrub are the perfect products to pamper your lips!
