Dior - State of Gold (review)
10:19 PMHi everyone,
I can't believe it's already December! However I'm slowly getting into the holiday spirit and I'm especially excited when I see the new and lovely holiday collections! :D
I showed a preview of the new Dior collection, State of Gold, a couple of days ago HERE and today I have some swatches of the items I got.
Dior new collection is all about gold and luxury. The products of this collection are housed in Dior iconic and festive holiday packaging, which is absolutely stunning and would make perfect Christmas gifts.
I will start with the swatches of Dior State of Gold nail polish. State of Gold is a mixture of gold and silver glitters suspended in a clear base. The gold glitters are larger than the silver ones and there are also some multicolored and super sparkly microglitters.
For this manicure, I used Dior Nuit D'Etoiles/Sparkling Blueberry on my index and pinky. On the other nails, I applied a coat of black nail polish and then did a gradient with State of Gold. I wore this manicure for a whole week, I loved it so much. I love that the glitters are not too big, they are the perfect size, they lay flat on the nails and don't feel gritty.
Then we have the new Diorific lipsticks and they are...matte! I'm really really happy to see Dior releasing matte lipsticks! I want them part of the permanent line!
The formula is packed with nourishing oils to offer comfort and hydration. On the lips, you can definitely feel that they are moisturizing and super comfortable to wear. They absolutely don't dry the lips, which is something that often happens with matte lipsticks. On the contrary they are rather creamy. They don't dry as matte as MAC retro matte lipsticks for example but dry to a satin/semi-matte finish, which is gorgeous.
The one I have is Diorific Mat 770 Fantastique, a super bright fuchsia. At first I thought this would be a cool-toned pink but after comparing it with a few other pink lipsticks I have, I think it's more on the neutral side (at least it's a bit warmer than YSL Rouge Pur Couture Mat 208).
It's fully opaque and creamy. It applies with no dragging or pulling. It lasts about 5-6 hours and it stains the lips nicely. It looks absolutely beautiful on lips.
Finally I have the 5 Couleurs Palette in 576 Eternal Gold. The palette is described as made of "soft tones complimented by dazzling black and golden shades of iridescent white."
The palette consists of:
- a soft khaki green with gold shimmer (upper left corner)
- a nude peach with gold shimmer (upper right corner)
- a pale yellow gold with shimmer (midde shade)
- a warm mauve-brown with shimmer (lower left corner)
- a glittery black (lower right corner)
The overall color scheme of Eternal Gold is quite soft and sophisticated. The colors are not super pigmented but they are easy to blend and you can create soft gradients very easily even if you're not a pro. I'm not the biggest fan of green and khaki eyeshadows but I really like the colors of the 4 others (love love love the mauve-brown and the 2 lighter colors) and I think they work great together to create different loooks. The middle and peach shades work also nicely as cheek highlighers ;)
I hope you enjoyed this article! Tell me if you're interested in something from this collection or if this is giving you gift ideas ;)
Personally I highly recommend one of the Diorific Mat lipsticks because they are creamy, matte, so comfortable to wear and absolutely stunning! I also love the glittery nail polish in State of Gold. It's perfect for the holidays but also gorgeous all year round!
