Garnier Fructis Pracht Auffüller/ Matière & Densité

12:30 AM

Hello!

Here I am with a new review of hair care products! Garnier Fructis has a new line called "Pracht Auffüller/ Matière & Densité" or "Full & Plush" in English. It promises you more volume and density for you hair.

This line consists of
  • a fortifying  shampoo
  • a fortifying  conditioner
  • a serum perfect to make long hair more dense
  • and a finishing spray to give extra volume.

This range claims to have a revolutionary molecule, fibra-cylane, which is a patented hair thickening molecule that penetrates the hair to make it thicker from inside. Associated with pomegranate extracts, rich in antioxidants and nourishing, the hair is refreshed.

Garnier Fructis "Full & Plush" - Fortifying  shampoo
According to Garnier:
"Do you dream of beautifully thick, abundant hair that feels full and looks even fuller? Get visibly fuller, thicker hair you can see, feel & show-off! Fructis Full & Plush, our first haircare range with fibra-cylane, pomegranate and active fruits concentrate that penetrates and plumps hair for a full, voluptuous look.
Instantly the look of more hair
Hair feels fuller & looks thicker
Touchably soft & plush"

The shampoo has a pleasant fruity smell that reminds me of pomegranate. I really like the smell because it's fresh and sweet but not overly sweet. If you are wondering, it lathers up well.

Ingredients
The shampoo does contain sodium laureth sulfate and sodium lauryl sulfate (harsh surfactants) so for people that prefer "all natural" shampoos or have irritated/sensitive scalp, avoid it. I'm very picky when it comes to skincare (what I put on my face) but I'm not that cautious with shampoos because shampoos stay in contact with hair only a couple of minutes and it's usually not enough to irritate you.

Among the other ingredients, there is another ingredient that caught my attention. It's niacinamide (vitamin B3). Niacinamide is a very well-known compound in skincare and is one of the few molecules that actually have a large scientific background and has been proven to be really efficient. It can improve skin's elasticity, enhance its barrier function, boost collagen production and reduce collagen breakdown, help erase discolorations, and revive skin's healthy tone and texture. It is also known for being able to treat an uneven skin tone and to mitigate acne and the red marks it leaves behind. And what about niacinamide in hair care? I had no idea so I had to look it up ;) It stimulates healthy hair growth by increasing blood circulation in the scalp and therefore revitalizes it. aIt also has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which help soothe irritation and reduce inflammatory hair loss. What a great molecule, isn't it? So I'm happy to see it in this shampoo. But as the shampoo is not left on the hair for long, I don't know if it really has time to be effective.  But still, still great to meet it here!

And finally, yes it does really contains pomegranate extract (punica granatum) (even if it's in small quantity), just as advertized.

Garnier Fructis "Full & Plush" - Fortifying  conditioner
Fortifying conditioner for fuller, thicker hair!

Just as the shampoo, the conditoner has a nice fruity smell that reminds me of pomegranate. It's a thick creamy conditioner that is easy to spread in the hair.

Ingredients
Basically all conditioners are made of water and oils and emulsifers to mix water and oils.
Cetearyl alcohol  is a emulsifier and is responsible for the creamy look of the conditioner. Once rinsed off, some cetearyl alcohol is thought to deposit on the surface of hair. This will create a feeling of softness. It's considered as a good ingredient in conditioners, even for people with dry hair.
This conditioner does make hair feel really soft!

Behentrimonium chloride serves as an emulsifier, conditioner (detangle and coat the hair to smake it smooth), and antiseptic. It's maximal concentration is 0.1%, which means what comes after it in the list is present in quite low concentration.

Thoughts about the shampoo and conditioner:
I've tried Full & Plush shampoo followed by the Full & Plush conditioner and I was really impressed! To be honest I didn't expected much of it because I'm not particularly a fan of Garnier Fructis but my hair really felt thicker and more dense. I let my hair dry naturally and when it was dry, I really had the impression I had more hair. I know this sounds a bit excessive but I'm 100% honest and I was quite surprised!
I also tried only the conditioner (without the matching shampoo) and my hair did feel a bit fuller and thicker than usual but the result was not as dramatic as with the shampo-conditioner combo. The conditioner leaves hair very very soft! I love that feeling!
Would I repurchase them? I will definitely repurchase the conditionner because I love how it makes my hair soft and fuller. For the shampoo, maybe maybe not. It's not bad at all but I usually use Head&Shoulder shampoo to avoid dandruffs and I've been using it for yaers. So yeah maybe I'll use one day the Full & Plush shampoo and the other the H&S. That's a possibilty.

Garnier Fructis "Full & Plush" - Serum
According to Garnier:
Our first targeted treatment with fibra-cylane and pomegranate that plumps wispy ends for a fuller look. It densifies the lengths and brings held to create a superb capillary mass up to the tips.

It looks super cute!!

The serum has the same pomegranate scent as the shampoo and conditioner. It's a milk serum that is easy to apply on the hair.

Ingredients
Ingredient list is quite short. It contains mainly water and hydroxyethylcellulose. Hydroxyethylcellulose is a thickening agent that gelifies preparations and here makes a gelified serum. VP/VA Copolymer is a film former often used in hair care products. It forms a thin barrier on hair and allows hair to hold its style longer by inhibiting the hair's ability to absorb moisture. I think it's the main point of this serum.
On a side note, there is niacinamide in the shampoo and conditioner but not in the serum. As explained above, niacinamide is an exceptional molecule and it would have been great to have it in a product that you leave on the hair.

The serum is not as spectacular as the shampo/conditioner but I like using it to keep my hair in style. So yes, it'a a rather nice hair serum.

Garnier Fructis "Full & Plush" - Finishing spray
According to Garnier:
For extreme hair mass effect, to be applied after Full & Plush shampooing and conditioner.
Its formula enriched with texturizing micro-powder brings a perfect texture. The soft finish respects the natural movement of the hair.

You can either apply it just to the roots or all over the head, depending on how much volume you want and where you want it.

The main ingredient of this spray is calcium carbonate, a powder. Calcium carbonate is like a "magical powder" that creates crazy volume and texture!
Hair powders are a secret of profesionnal hair artists that are meant to give you amped up volume and texture. Pro usually use silca as a powder. It's actually a rough particulate that helps 'bulk up' the hair by increasing friction between hair fibers. I don't know if calcium carbonate gives the same effect as silica but my guess is that the effect is less dramatic. That said, silica will create an unnatural hair texture and this will be less prononced with calcium carbonat (again that's my guess).

To be honest, I haven't tried it yet (too bad I know) but as I have to have this review up, I'm already posting basic info about this spray and will update the info here and on instagram after I've tried it. It's not that I don't want to try it but I want to use it in the morning and I always forget...I'll put in in sight in my bathroom so that I don't forget tomorrow! :D

Last word before my conclusion :p
Garnier claims to have in this line a revolutionary molecule called fibra-cylane that penetrates the hair to make it thicker from inside. I looked at the ingredient lists of the 4 products of this line and couldn't really understand what this revolutionary molecule is. I'm not an expert in hair products at all but I can confidently say that there is no revolutionary molecule in them. All ingredients are well-known ingredients and there is nothing super new in them. Just saying...But of course, this doesn't mean the products are not great or doesn't work as they're supposed to!

In conclusion, I wasn't expecting much from this line before trying it. I've already tried a few shampoos and conditionners that promise you thicker and fuller hair but I had never noticed any difference. That said, after the first use of the shampoo-conditionner combo of this line (Full & Plush), I was really really surprised to feel my hair more denser and thicker, as if I had more hair. I was pleasantly surprised and that's why I will repurchase the conditioner and shampoo.
