Dior Transat (Summer 2014) - swatches
8:34 PMHi everyone,
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Mine was kind of lazy, but sometimes lazy weekends are just what I need :D
Today I have some swatches of the beautiful new Dior collection for summer called "Transat". If you missed the PR info, you can read it HERE.
I will talk about the new Dior fluid sticks (lipstick-gloss hybrid) in an upcoming article. It's not part of the Transat collection but it's a product I love so much at the moment that I wanted to add a little sneak peek :D
So let's start with Sailor, one of the 3 polishes of this collection. It comes in a gorgeous box with transparent nail stickers and a file.
Sailor is a beautiful rich cobalt blue jelly polish with a very faint shimmer. It is opaque in 2 coats and is super glossy and doesn't stain your nails! You can remove it easily. Formula was a dream to work with and it comes with the new Dior brush (see here). I absolutely adore this polish! When I wore it I received many compliments on this polish! I think I even need a back up! So yep, I LOVE this polish!
And it even matches my Banana Republic trench coat that I love wearing so much at the moment :D
I also tried the stickers that come with the polish. They create instant nail art, which is really cool but they are difficult to place on the nails, especially if you have curved nails. So to me the value of the set is definitely the polish that I find gorgeous!
5 Couleurs Transat Edition - 344 Atlantique: it's one of the 2 palettes of this colleciton. The other palette is called Sundeck and is made of warmer colors (see here).
#1 (upper left corner) is a cold-toned, iridescent silver. It's a perfect shade to brighten up the inner corner of your eyes or the area under your eyebrows. You can also layer it over another color to add sparkles to it.
#2 (upper right corner) is a light cold-toned, matte blue. It has a very good color payoff and stays in place for hours.
#3 (middle) is a sparkly navy blue. It's not too sparkly, just a little to add depth to the color. It also have a good pigmentation.
#4 (lower left corner) is a medium cold-toned, matte blue and again, it has a very good color payoff.
#5 (lower right corner) is a medium matte brown with a good pigmentation.
When I first saw this palette, I was so happy because I love matte eyeshadows and blue matte eyeshadows are not easy to find. To that sense, this palette is totally unique and a must-have! It is well composed, you have an highlighter shade (upper left corner), a darker one that you can use as an eyeliner (the dark navy in the middle), medium brown to use in the crease and 2 shades of blue to create a gradient on your lid! You can also play differently and use the navy shade in the crease and so on. I also greatly appreciate that all the eyeshadows (except the shimmery silver) are very well pigmented! So yes, I'm in love with this palette!
Diorskin Nude Tan - Golden Shimmer powder - face & décolleté with kabuki brush
This powder instantly enhances the skin with a gorgeous shimmer of gold. I use it as a contouring powder on the upper forehead, top of cheekbones, bridge of the nose, and chin to illuminate my face and bring definition to it. So far I like it but I guess it will be even better for this summer when the wearther is nice and warm.
And finally we have Diorskin Nude Tan - Prime and Bronze - Progressive self-tanning healthy glow primer in "peaux claires" (fair skin).
I must admit that I was a bit scared when I saw its dark color but once you blend it in your skin, it looks very subtle and nice. I have a fair skin and normally don't go for darker products but I was pleasantly surprised by this primer because it looks very natural (!) and gives you a bright complexion. I also like its texture. It's very light and gives you a fresh sensation when you apply it! It also smooth out your skin nicely. Note that it doesn't contain any sunscreen. You have to use it as a makeup base.
According to Dior "after one week of application, its progressive self-tanning effect bathes the complexion in a bright, even and perfectly natural-looking tan". I haven't used it regularly yet (can't wait for nice weather to come!), so I cannot comment on that.
The shade I have here is number 001 Peaux Claires (light skin) and it also exists for matte skin (Peaux Mates).
