Essie - Shearling Darling (Winter 2013)
10:24 PMHello,
I have swatches of the new essie collection for winter called Shearling Darling! So let's have a look at the different polishes that offers this pretty collection!
For each polish, I used 2 coats and formula was nice and easy to work with.
Toggle To The Top - "shake, shimmy and shine your way to the height of fashion in this show-stopping sparkling crushed garnet lacquer"
Toggle To The Top is described as a sparkling crushed garnet red. It's a dark berry red jelly packed with small red glitters. It's totally gorgeous and so appropriate for the holiday season, I love it!
This polish is top coat-thirsty, which means you will need 2 coats of top coat to tame the glitters and get a shiny look.

In this picture, I used only one coat of top coat. |
Shearling Darling - "silky smooth and buttery soft on the surface, this plush mahogany red nail lacquer has a deep, dark heart that fires the imagination"
Shearling Darling is described as a rich, plush ebony red. The color is perfect for fall-winter, I love wearing this kind of shades at the moment. It's a very classic and elegant color. One of my favorites from this collection!
Sable Collar - "baby, it’s cold outside. Warm it up with pearlescent cocoa plum polish that adds a touch of luxe to any look"
Sable Collar is described as a luxurious pearlescent cocoa plum. It looks more brown than plum but it has indeed some plum a bit hidden in its base. I absolutely adore this shade! I love the shimmer in it!
I also took a picture with flash to show you the shimmer better and you can see a little bit of plum in the base although that's very subtle.
Warm & Toasty Turtleneck - "this wisteria pink angora polish is the epitome of snuggly seduction, but be advised: this pretty pullover is no pushover"
Warm & Toasty Turtleneck is described as a wisteria pink angora. To me it's a dusty lilac, a very appropriate way to wear a lilac polish in fall or winter. It's a very pretty shade.
Mind Your Mittens - "charm. etiquette. discretion. you’re a master of manners with serious knit knack in this double diamond black teal lacquer"
Mind Your Mittens is described as a deep black teal. It's a very dark creme. It almost looks black but not exactly. It will look more blue or green depending on the lightening. Under "cold" light, it looks more blue, while under my desk lamp it looked more green. Here on the pictures, it definitely looks more blue. But whatever it looks, I really like it although it's not the most unique color.
Parka Perfect - "après ski or after hours, this serenely shimmering alpine gray lacquer expertly navigates the slopes and the scene in fine form"
Parka Perfect is described as a shimmery gray. It has very fine flecks, the same as the ones in Essie's Naughty Nautical collection (reviewed HERE), but it seems they're more scattered than in the previous collection. The base has a lot of blue in it and in fact, while wearing it, I thought it was rather a blue with some gray in it. I wished the flecks were a bit more visible and numerous, but apart from that, that's a lovely polish!
Overall I think essie did a good job with this collection. There's something for every taste. Moreover, the formula is very good for each polish. I especially love Toggle To The Top, Shearling Darling, and Sable Collar! And you, do you have any favorites?
If you are wondering how Toggle To The Top compares to Leading Lady, Cindy did a comparison HERE.
